Snakes and Snails

So, I have a little girl. I always said I wasn't going to get into the whole pink thing - but I did. Louisa is always in pink and girly and all that goo that I said wouldn't be me. But I never realized until just recently how lost I would be if I had a boy. There are so few cute boy fabrics out there. Sure, you can find TONS of cowboy, firemen, airplanes, etc. But seriously.......our boys need to be just as fashionable as girls.

Here are a few of my new "boy" fabrics. I can do a solid pant with a pattern around the hem and a patterned pocket. I can also either initial a shirt with an appliqué or ask me, give me ideas for other appliqués (ie. frogs, dinosaurs, cowboy boots, caterpillars, etc) and I can see what I can do.

The fabrics are a navy blue solid with an Alexander Henry 2-D Zoo (which is by far one of my most faves ever!), a multi-colored blue stripe, a multi-colored blue stripe with brown and a geometric with blue. I can always do these with the light blue corduroy as seen in "Not your Mama's corduroy dress" or brown corduroy with the patterned edging and pockets.

Just wanted to post some pictures of 2 recent orders that I have done. These are two that I do not have on the blog originally. So, get inspired........please email me at browniegoose@hotmail.com if you have a combination that you think would rock your child.

I have just gone and gotten more fabrics for the spring and second half of the winter, I hope to get examples posted soon.

Also, turn it up and enjoy the holiday music. It will make you feel just like you were in a store shopping! :)

Your chance at Stardom

Okay, so just came up with an idea that I thought would be super cute. For those of you who order from brownie-goose, if you can, get a picture of that cute little one of yours in their brownie-goose best and send it in. I will feature them on the site. How fun is that? No names to protect the innocent. Email the pictures to browniegoose@hotmail.com.

By the way, I will be in Kentucky over the Thanksgiving holidays - I will have access to email, but not my sewing machine. So, please still order and I will get started on your creation as soon as I get home. Also, I am pulling extra hours at the machine so I can get all of your Christmas goodies out on time!

'Tis the season........for plaid!

Here is your chance for your little one to look oh-so-fab in a plaid a-line dress, perfect for the winter season. This a-line dress is a classic, a perfect design to wear with a turtleneck and a pair of tights. Pottery Barn Kids had these featured, and they look SO precious monogrammed, but I do not have monogramming capabilities.....yet that is. :) But, once again, we are in the South, and it seems there are places around every corner that monogram.

I have 3 fabrics, and unfortunately I have a only a limited amount of the gray plaid left. These dresses are fully lined and have buttons that match the fabric. The sizing guide for the a-line is on the sizing guide at the bottom of the blog. I can do from 3 months to 3T for this dress style.

Here are my other 2 fabrics. One is a pink and brown plaid with a small green stripe. The other is pink and black. Both classics.

Here is a close-up of button details.

To place an order, please email me at browniegoose@hotmail.com and specify the size and fabric that you would like.

Alphabet Soup for Boys

I have often said that if you stand still long enough in the South, you will be monogrammed. We just LOVE to monogram our children!

This is a winter outfit for the boys. The pants are brown corduroy with a contrasting strip of brown and blue around the hem. The hand-appliqued initial for the top can be done on a Carters onesie (sizes 12 month, 18 month and 24 month) or a white long-sleeved shirt (sizes 12 month, 18 month, 2T and 3T).

To place an order, please email me at browniegoose@hotmail.com. Please include the waist measurement on your sweet boy as well as the length from belly-button to ankle bone in inches. If you have questions about sizing, please refer to the sizing chart at the bottom of this blog.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree.....

How FUNKY are your branches?

So, here is a spin on the tradition Christmas get-up. It is a hand-appliqued Christmas tree design with a twist. I can do this applique on a Carters Onesie (the sizes that I have are 12 month, 18 month and 24 month) or on a plain long-sleeved white tee (sizes are 12 month, 18 month, 2T, and 3T). I have both a girly design and a boys design.

I can also do matching pants to complete the outfit. For the girls - the pants have a playful ruffle at the bottom, and the boys have a manly contrasting bolt of color on the hem. I can do sizes from 12 months to 3T - I just ask that you give me the measurement from belly-button to ankle bone, and the waist in inches. If you have questions about sizing, please refer to the sizing chart at the bottom of this blog.

I have both traditional and non-traditional fabrics. Here are some samples with the names of the sets and descriptions. You can click on the photo to enlarge it.

Traditional Red - the pants are made of red corduroy with a red and white striped contrasting ruffle or strip.

Traditional Green - the pants are made of green corduroy with a green and white striped contrasting ruffle or strip.

Funky Blue - the pants are blue corduroy, and have a striped strip around the bottom. This is traditionally a boys pattern, but I can do a ruffle if you want this design for girls.

Funky Pink - the pants are pink corduroy with a green/pink paisley print ruffle.

helloooooooo brownie-goose

Its finally here! After many requests, I have decided to do more sewing, and not just for Louisa this time. For those of you who may not know me.......here is a brief introduction.

My name is Amy and I am currently in Jackson, MS while my husband completes his ENT residency. I have a little girl that will be 2 in March. My mother and grandmother were both big into sewing, and the older I got - the more interested I got in it. Once I had a little girl, my interest grew and is now spinning out of control. I love to make her outfits and have her dressed up in funky, cute outfits that no one else has. I have finally decided to expand my sewing and make it available to others. The majority of my ideas are for girls, but I am slowly expanding my talents for little boys as well.

As far as production, it is just little-old-me sewing by myself and in my spare time as I am a full-time pediatric nurse. So, I don't have a department store selection, sorry. What you see is usually what you get, but I am always open to custom ideas - and I have a closet FULL of fabrics that are waiting to be used. For payments, I am working on getting PayPal on the site, but until then it may be just send me a check and I will send you your order......yeah, I know this is 2008 - but let's be patient!

As for the name, brownie-goose is completely inspired by my other 2 children, my labs. I have a chocolate lab named Mallard (we call him brownie for his color) and a black lab named Lucy (we call her goose, not sure why).

Keep me bookmarked, and always check back for more creations!
